I recently checked out Haiku's source and wanted to build Haiku under Haiku. In order to do this, you need to download the build tool's source; size = 792mb. Then, download Haiku's source; size = 843.6mb. This took me three hours to checkout!
Next, build the build tools, and then build Haiku. The entire process is quite lengthy...
Guess who has done all the dirty work, and made an entire development image containing pre-compiled build tools, and Haiku's trunk - your's truly lol. The funny part is, the entire Vmware disk image I've built weighs only 125mb! Using 7zip, it compressed a 2.6 gb image that much...
So to streamline and make the whole process more efficient/easy, use Firefox, and an add-on like dta. On my 5mbit cable connection, I can download the disk image containing Haiku's entire trunk, pre-built build tools on a 10gb Vmware disk image in <5 min!! Once downloaded, fire up a terminal and 'sync up' to synchronize sources. This should make developing for Haiku in a VM a lot easier/quicker...
Here it is
*All packages have been removed because of violation of Haiku's distro license. Sorry.
