First, I'll ask if anyone else would like to apply for the CUPS bounty. It will be closed within three days if there are no other applicants. I'll then contact the contributors and see what they'd like to do. Either refunds, or distribute to these other bounties (Macbook, Bluetooth).

we may be able to transfer some over if the contributors don't mind. we'd have to check with them first of course to make it fair. Karl might have more info about what he plans to do with any left over funds. - thenerd

Now, If Ithmar is nowhere to be found and if the CUPS bounty won't see any light. then perhaps it would be possible to transfer some of its funds to the macbook bounty too?

750 bucks is a small reward for the macbook bounty, but 250 is rather embarrassing I think :o
I'd love to contribute some more to it, but I don't have any income at all unfortunately :( - aphex

It wasn't bad behaviour, just a misunderstanding I guess.

yeah we definitely don't make the deadlines. Neither Karl nor myself are developers so it wouldn't be fair for us to set those deadlines.

I suspect Chris has already made some progress so I'm confident he'll be fairly close. - thenerd

Oh, yes that's the way it works - the developer makes the deadline, not us.

Well, I look forward to it as well. Just hope we can help reach Chris' target.

I didnt want ot say that the devloper has no clue because if he takes such a challenges he definitely has verry much knowledege!
I wasnt aware that the developer set the deadline on his own. So sorry about that. I thought someone of the bounty team set this date. :(
But with a deadline with 2 Month he must have most of the stuff nearly running.
So looking forward to run Haiku on my Mac. :) - Paradoxon

There's been a problem with developer deadlines and bounties (i.e Webkit and CUPS). I've emailed Ithamar several times about the CUPS bounty, and made a final deadline of March 1st, but still haven't heard back... I have to address this issue soon. I will feel bad closing it, because I know he's made commits to fix some printing related issues in Haiku, and is working on it, at the same time, what are we to do if self-proposed deadlines aren't met and you can't contact the individual? I know that Oliver has been working steadily on the bluetooth bounty, and has been making considerable progress, perhaps the time has come to transfer the CUPS holding to the bluetooth bounty.

With regards to the Macbook bounty, I know that Chris has been working on it already for some time. I think we have to give the developers leeway with respect to deadline proposals, as they are all individuals with their own work ethics and morals; time will tell... It's unfair to say that x developer has no idea what they're talking about with such a short deadline I think. For instance, I was skeptical when Marcus proposed finishing the SATA/AHCI driver bounty within a month, but he did it... ;) - karl

Impossible

I really like to hear that this bounty was picked up.

But with this deadline it is just so unrealistic. I could belive this if the deadline is the 30 Mai. 2009.

But with the Deadline 30 Mail it may be possible to start one of the tasks but not possible to cover all the aspects or to finish one of the Aspekts.

So please korrekt this!!!!!!
Either the person who set up the Deadline has no idea of the ammount of work or there is a wrong idea of the complexity of such a task! - Paradoxon
