This I found on digg somewhere.
"Linux-based distributions are a collection of numerous software that do not necessarily follow the same development guidelines and/or goals. This lack of overall vision often results in increased complexity, insufficient integration, and sometimes inefficient solutions, making the use of your computer more complicated than it should actually be."

My personal problem with Linux comes down to trouble shooting issues. Most of the time there's complicated command line fixes and god knows if your fix for your distro will work on other distros that your friends/family/corporation might have. A huge headache for network admins. - mikedoth

Strictly interpreted, if someone asks the question "why not Linux", they're asking why not contribute to the Linux kernel (the same one used by *all* distros).

Either way, the question is like asking a proud coin collector "why not stamps?" It's an obnoxious question on its face. - kevcool

> Which Linux Distro do you mean?

This is exactly the whole point ! I'm not using Linux and never install it because of that: which one should i choose ? Which version of software should i download then, how to update without internet access on the computer, ...

All those questions i do not have with Haiku, which i like ! And that's actually why i'm also agree with Koki on the guideline talks on OSNews lately. - BeosFrance

I'm pretty sure that DarkWyrm just meant Linux in general, and not any specific distro. - karl
