NDIS != wireless stack

Hey Ryan, it is not completely true. NDIS drivers just look like normal ethernet devices, so you only need basic ethernet support to hack ndiswrapper-like drivers. I know, I hacked one on ZETA :P - ithamar

By the way, the NDIS wrapper bounty pretty much implies wireless for the network stack. Though really a wireless stack probably should be in place before the NDIS wrapper could be written. So maybe a specific bounty for wireless would be good too.

Either way I'm sure it will get done eventually ;) - Ryan Leavengood

CPUS still GPL2/LGPL2

In February of 2007, Apple Inc. acquired ownership the CUPS source code and hired me (Michael R Sweet), the creator of CUPS.

CUPS will still be released under the existing GPL2/LGPL2 licensing terms, and I will continue to develop and support CUPS at Apple.

That was from http://cups.org/articles.php?L475 - thenerd

indeed, i read that too. i'll look into it. although, several operating systems rely heavily on cups for printer support. i can't see apple all of the sudden closing shop on everyone. :o - karlvd

Might wanna be careful on the CUPS port...

I recently recall reading that Apple bought up all the rights to CUPS. If that's true, that means they own the rights to CUPS or something... might wanna look into it a bit more, to know if this is true or not.

Good to hear!

Could you post any comments/updates in the actual Webkit bounty section?

http://www.haikuware.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=54&Itemid=39

This thread is getting a little long hehe.

Or, you could 'submit news' or 'write a blog' in the user menu, then it'll show up on the front page.

Thanks. - karlvd

Thanks for the donations guys. I've been slowly working on the port this week. The start hasn't been as fast as I would like, but I expect to get a lot done this weekend. Barring no major difficulties I should still be on schedule to finish "milestone 3" this Sunday.

On that point I decided to just use Jam for the build and integrate WebKit into my own Haiku build environment. In the long run I think this will be the easiest course.

I will probably post some blog entries here as I progress. Hopefully I'll have something interesting worth showing in a few weeks. - Ryan Leavengood

Update **

The same bloody bullshit every time. I've called there at least 10 times now! They sent the email to the wrong person. Yesterday they said it's in review give us 24 hours, and now tonight they said could take another 24-48 hours.

I'm really sorry about this... I gave the rest of the info the wanted at about lunch time, and they said around 24 hours to review it, so I'm hoping it should be working by tonight if not tomorrow.

I'll be emailing the three people (yourself included) in the comments section who asked about this when the system is running again. - karlvd
