Yea, I saw the commit! That's awesome.

Sadly as my experience of programming with the Haiku/BeOS API only expands over the past few days, i don't think it would be a good idea to start implementing the API for the rather crucial BDiskDeviceParameterEditor. smilies/wink.gif

There's few with this knowledge, and I guess that those that are are swamped with other parts of the project :( - karlvd

Hey there,

MangoFusion here. Thanks for the interest, i appreciate it. ;D

Just thought i'd let you guy's know, i plonked my patches to get DriveSetup working - rather, working as far as i can get it barring the parts which need to use the crucially missing API - onto the haiku trac at http://dev.haiku-os.org/ticket/1347 .

As i said, Haiku is currently missing the API for the partition & format options dialogs, which i presume are intended to be initialised by BPartition::GetChildCreationParameterEditor & BPartition::GetInitializationParameterEditor and then maybe you tell it to "->Go()" like a pop-up menu. Though of course, i have no way of knowing as it hasn't been implemented yet. :(

Still, in the case of the initialisation dialog, you'll probably noticed i made an initial guess (which is commented out as BDiskDeviceParameterEditor does not really exist) as to how it should work.

Sadly as my experience of programming with the Haiku/BeOS API only expands over the past few days, i don't think it would be a good idea to start implementing the API for the rather crucial BDiskDeviceParameterEditor. ;) - jamesu

I emailed MangoFusion privately, hope he doesn't mind me paraphrasing and quoting a little bit. He considered the bounty but now has second thoughts because:
Parts of the Haiku API, notably the configuration editor's for the
partitioning & initialisation are completely missing (apart from
vague references in the headers).
Nevertheless, the work he has done he's willing to share with Haiku. He sounds new to Haiku/BeOS. I could be wrong, and I'm not sure that he heard or considered this project through Haikuware, but that's more or less the point of the bounties; to try and get some new devs interested in Haiku.

;D - karlvd

I think someone with the nickname MangoFusion is working on DriveSetup for Haiku, following the IRC log from today, below:

[12:13:16] *** MangoFusion has joined #haiku
[12:25:32] MangoFusion http://www.cuppadev.co.uk/assets/2007/7/31/drivesetup_woo.png ;)
[12:27:41] MangoFusion fixed it up a bit. now it mounts & unmounts, and even ejects removable media (if you uncomment the related storage kit code)
[12:28:31] MangoFusion though i am slightly clueless where to begin with the partition & initialization dialogs
[12:28:44] MangoFusion and the BColumnListView it uses is a nightmare to work with
[12:29:03] MangoFusion still, better than nothing i guess ;)
[12:31:36] MangoFusion i was actually trying to get the dividing lines drawn in - but it looked a bit ugly, and for some odd reason the control always draws in row lines which doesn't help when i want to tidy things up a bit (like making it look a bit more like the original)
[12:32:23] MangoFusion maybe if i used a lighter color, i dunno
[12:32:49] MangoFusion or made my own column listview, but that would be suicide ;)
[12:37:50] *** MangoFusion has quit IRC

I hope I didn't get it wrong. - sebe
