Manufacturer: Compaq
Submitter's Haikuware Profile
Haiku Release #: Build 22226
Hardware Supported?: Partial
Description:

This is an old PIII 1.0GHz model with 256MB RAM, 40 GB IDE Hard Disk and onboard video, sound and network.

I built Haiku using the most current build at the time (22185) directly to the hard disk. It boots but displays a color palette instead of the Haiku logo. After that I see I mouse cursor on the screen and then it freezes and does not boot further than that. The screen is also black and white which most likely means that it doesn't recognize the video card.

*update* Sept 14/07

I managed to get Haiku to boot, finally! The problem is with the onboard sound. This time I am running revision 22226 and had to enter the BIOS and disable the onboard sound. You can do this under Security > Device Security then chance System Audio to Device Hidden then it boots.

It still doesn't recognize the video so it boots into black and white mode (or whatever it's called). I also noticed that when I try and bring up the network preferences applet it crashes.

I tested BONE on this PC and surprisingly it works, well everything except the network card. The sound and video work excellent. I'm guessing I could build some of the other drivers that aren't built by default or copy the drivers over to the Haiku install.
It booted!
