Our Haiku Hardware Compatibility Database gives an opportunity for users to submit information about their hardware to developers and to other Haiku users. This can be extremely useful to other users when they want to determine what hardware they should purchase to have a Haiku compatible machine, or if Haiku will work on their system's hardware before installing it. It also assists developers in knowing what hardware Haiku users are using, and consequently may assist them in determining what hardware drivers they should write.
The database allows review and rating of the hardware, and open communication through the website. And if the person who submitted the hardware left his identification, you can even contact him via PM through the website if you have any inquiries about the hardware.
Another great feature, is the picture (if submitted). A picture says a thousand words! Seeing a motherboard with 5 PCI slots, and 4 USB ports, etc. says a lot more than the manufacturer name and product code!
The database can only be useful though if it contains good information, so when you fill one out, try to fill out all the fields available...
Some extremely important fields for developers, are the vendor and device I.D fields. You can find these by using the terminal, and typing: listdev
Copy and paste that output to your hardware profile please!
