Hey,

Ah gotcha...

Ok, well, I've done this before but don't exactly remember how, you'd have to research it a bit... I'm not well versed in Linux either...

But, yes you'd need super user capabilities to edit this file. I believe it's /etc/grub.conf? Not sure. Also, not sure about what exactly you have to add and how it works. But, if I remember correctly, (0,0) would mean that 0 is the primary hard drive, and 0 is the first partition... So basically, an easy way to do this, would be to login as root with your GUI server, then you can edit anything. Or as you said i.e sudo /path-to editor/ /etc/grub.conf and then just add an entry similar to #7 at that website I sent you, but change (hd1,2) to wherever your Haiku and Zeta installs are...

I'm sure you could find better/more correct help on this on a Linux forum though...

I managed to add Zeta to the grub but it wont boot. I was expecting that coz i have an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dualcore 5600+ 2.81 Ghz cpu with 4 GIG RAM. So now i have to add Haiku to grub. I have my doubts so i'll probably have to wait for an alpha release

thanx anyway

np! one thing you might try is to disable your sata (i'm guessing) hard drive in the bios and then boot Zeta, and disable everything and boot in safe mode through Zeta's loader.

you need to type in "sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst" that's the command that will get you to the boot loader menu. That's assuming your using Ubuntu.

You need to add the following to that file so you can boot haiku

# Haiku on /dev/sda6
title Haiku
rootnoverify (hd0,5)
chainloader +1

make sure you change the rootnoverify value to match the partition you have haiku on.

hope that helps.

yea thanks D. see his partition is 6 on the primary device, but you count 0 as the 1st, so its really 5.

*make sure you add your hardware to the database, if it works or not :-p

yes i forgot to mention that grub uses 0 so you have to take that into account.
