I would LOVE to get a powerPC bounty started. Given Apple's push to keep OS X shiny like vista, they have abandoned 60 Macontosh models in OSX 10.5, thats right! 60 models! ( see: http://lowendmac.com/ hodges/th07/1017.html)

There are some great little pieces of hardware which will become outdated and go into trash heaps everywhere. If Haiku could run on PPC there would be a LARGE jump in the Haiku user base. I know PPC ports have been mumbled in the Haiku world for a longtime now, maybe a bounty would give it a push?

I'm a little poor right now though I can spare $25 though, can I get 3 people to do this with me?

I think a bounty would help push the development of a PPC port but I do believe that it would take a lot more than $100. It's a huge undertaking. Unfortunately I don't have much use for a PPC port as I don't have any PPC hardware. As the bounty rules state if you can donate $100 you can open the bounty. It's not a problem to combine funds with others to get to the initial $100.

I agree with thenerd. I don't think there are enough resources (capable developers with the knowledge to undertake this), that are available for this undertaking. I know I asked about it a while back, and Axel has some PPC hardware. It is definitely on the roadmap, but not a priority. I do see some PPC commits every once in a while. Unfortunately, unless maybe there's several thousand dollars involved, we'll just have to be patient

since BeOS had a PPC port I'm guessing that it will eventually come but since mac has moved to Intel and there are only a few platforms using PPC now it might take a while and might be looked at as a dying technology. I know some people won't agree with what I just said.

MorphOS is quite popular in the PPC world now but I guess we need to get the i386 platform down before we move to anything else.
