I think Karl meant that it won't provide too much to the SENRYU distribution - which were are talking about - at this moment. I.e because of lack of GCC4 applications, it's not stable yet and etc.

Lack of GCC4 applications? It's the opposite. With a current version of GCC you can port a lot of applications without tweaking, keeping intact the compatibility with old applications.

Yes, of course! But we are talking about making the SENRYU distribution a GCC4/2.95 cross-version. Right now there is only 1 published application for Haiku that is dependent on GCC4 and as said, the tool-chain is not stable yet.

No one is denying that the cross-version is the happening of the year nor that it will open up a lot of opportunities.

I wouldn't be able to distribute a GCC4 version anyways according to Haiku's distro rules...

'Use the same GCC version as the official distribution (GCC 2.95.3 on x86) and run the "configure" script with the parameter "--distro- compatibility=compatible" .'

Guess you'll have to wait for an official version, or try yourself.
