Weekly Super Pack 2007/10/19 02:48 Karma: 3
Just wondering if anyone has been using Karl's Weekly Super Pack. I see that it's the most popular download but I would like to get some feedback as to how you all think it works and if there is anything you think that needs to be added to it.

i play around with it. I'd like to see some different emulators though , such as E-UAE, VICE, YAME or X-MESS. Also a live cd image would be awesome!

Hi EiGHtBiT thanks for your comments.

Are E-UAE, VICE, YAME or X-MESS already running on BeOS/Haiku? I am not sure (they might even be on this site but I didn't look) but if so where are they located? If they aren't already ported to Haiku/BeOS then we are unable to add them.

The live cd thing may not be in the future as I do not know how to create a live cd and I am not sure if Karl does or not. If someone has the know-how to create a live cd I would possibly consider it if there is enough interest and if it can be accomplished relatively easily. I suspect if we were to publish a live cd we may have to make some modifications to create a "Haiku Based Distribution". I would have to revisit the Haiku Distribution guidelines to make sure we wouldn't be violating anything.

Cheers!

Yeah all are available on bebits.com and work with beos. As far as Vice goes, last time I checked Viceteam.org had a more recent version of vice than bebits. I will try out the emulators tomorrow on haiku, and let you know by sunday. Also supertux has been proven to work on haiku, on the "pingwinek" haiku distro. It's a pretty cool game, and contains a level editor. Which could be made into a nice haiku/beos themed version. It must be compiled from source, and I'm not to keen on that type of thing. Although I know it can't be that hard to do.

Let me know how it goes with the testing. If all works well I'll pass along the info to Karl and see if he will include those pieces of software in the image.

Thanks!

'Are E-UAE, VICE, YAME or X-MESS already running on BeOS/Haiku'?

I've tried all, and they all crash except YAME, which I've now included on the image.

I was also curious about a LiveCD. I know of one available on BeBits. I tried it, and it doesn't work. I've also tried 'pingwinek' LiveCD, also doesn't work. Maybe I'm burning the CDs wrong, but I don't think so. It never finds the bootable partition on the CD. Probably because the Haiku bootloader included on the distributions don't support booting from CDs yet...

I also looked at SuperTux. Couldn't find a recent version anywhere, the one I tried was 7.8mb which is too big to put on the image.
