About CircleBoy:
This was a simple art project to demonstrate a reabstraction of data on
your hard drive.. instead of text files being text and sounds being
audio, it traverses a file per 2seconds and displays it as if it
contained visual information: the location, size. shape, and color of
ellipses in the circleBoy window :)
circleBoy
only displays the first 7k of a file (= 1000 ellipses), because any
more would just slow down the refresh time without adding anything
visually. circleBoy was built on Michael
Crawford(crawford@goingware.com)'s circleToy code, there are many
additions. Thanks go to some unknown person on #bedev (sorry I forgot
your nick) for modifying the basic circleToy code to allow resizing. B
a s i c a l l y , circleBoy is just something fun to watch. You can
really learn a lot about the different internal structures of different
kinds of files if you stare @ it long enough. maybe I should clean it
up and make it a screen saver.. I will probably do a openGL 3D version
first. Feel free to play w/ the source--it's educational in that It
does a very simple BQuery.. (source is included a PPC port would be
appreciated...)
Details about this version:
(oh. come to think of it, I didnt use the resizable version of
circleToy in this current version of circleBoy .. i added the resizing
procedures w/the help of the BeBook and people on #bedev but it makes
use of some potentially ugly flags (like IIRC B_FULL_UPDATE_ON_RESIZE))
