Please note that this script has now been superceded by cd-empogger which does the same thing and more besides. Check it out here - http://www.bebits.com/app/3121. cd2mp3 invokes either the 'gogo' encoder or the 'lame' encoder and copies music tracks from an audio CD and then saves them on your hard drive as mpeg3 files (there's a clue in the name!).

Nothing that hasn't already been done by a GUI app but a little more automated and a good excuse for me to practice some scripting. It also makes naming the mpeg3 files a little less fussy than doing it manually in the Tracker and even ejects the CD for you when it's finished! If you like to see things happening in the Terminal then this is for you. Detailed overview in the readme.

	Details about this version: Vastly improved since the last version. Now offers the choice of using either 'gogo' or 'lame' to perform the encoding. If only one of these encoders is found to be installed on your system then it will use that one anyway. Also now offers a selection of different bitrates to encode at. Script has been tidied up a lot and clearing has been introduced to make things look prettier when it's running in the terminal. Many checks added to verify presence of encoders and check that a CD is actually in the drive before it starts, among other things.
