Canon BDCP2 Plugin Download
- Description:

About Canon BDCP2 Plugin:
BDCP2 Plugin for Canon Digital Cameras
Buggy R5 and somewhat better Zeta version allows BDCP programs like Exposure! to access a range of Canon cameras via USB, download and delete pictures. Tested on my G2.
Details about BeOS version:
Since I no longer have any working version of R5 and the
downloadable binaries have disappeared along with BeZip, I've checked
my backups and finally found the old sources. Be aware though that the
Zeta versions, both for PTP and Canon proprietary protocol are
significantly more advanced and stable.
Install by putting the plugin into home/config/lib/BDCP_Plugins.
Then, in Exposure!, select [Configuration], [Program Settings] from the
menu. The Camera dropdown should contain all sorts of Canon cameras.
Select any of them, close the dialog and try to connect to the camera.
PTP BDCP2 Plugin:
This version will connect via PTP and is
not really limited to Canon digicams. I have put it as a variation
rather than a new piece of SW since it's only tested on a single model
from Canon and supports some of the Canon extensions to PTP.
For owners of other brands, it will provide somewhat higher transfer
speeds compared to the existing PTP plugin. Also writes attributes
(height/width/flash) to downloaded pictures and allows to take shots
from the PC.
The latter is part of the BDCP standard but only used by Exposure!, so
no luck with PhotoGrabber. For some Canon cameras, you'll even get an
onscreen display of the viewfinder.
Feedback welcome - especially from owners of other cameras than my Canon Pro 1.
Details about this version:
May crash when disconnecting cable before disconnecting via menu.
Zeta Version:
Update of the Canon BDCP Plugin compiled on Zeta
Limited to Zeta not out of bad will but simply because it uses libusb.so instead of statically linking in the UsbKit.
Definitely more stable and
able also to issue "take picture" requests to the camera. Tested on a
G2, will require feedback for other models. Do not use on any Canon
that allows PTP.
Installer will put file in the right
place, you'll just need to configure Exposure or any other BDCP program
to use the "Canon USB" plugin.
Please provide feedabck on the degree of support for other models. And have fun.
