PhotoGrabber V2.2
Description:

About Photograbber:

PhotoGrabber has already a long history behind itself. The first version of the application was a CLI application and was under the name BeDiGiCam. The following version was a GUI aplication that could only be used on Zeta.
After that the name has been changed to "PhotoGrabber" and was included into ZETA as a standard application for digital cameras.

Since then no new version has come out. This because of a lack of time and other interests. Some time ago I thought about to open source PhotoGrabber. So the project could go on even if I had no time for it. And it would be a shame to loose such a project just like Exposure!.

Since it's integration in ZETA PhotoGrabber didn't really make any real changes, it wen't up to version 2.0 also due to the locale support in ZETA. After that Jixt released the source into the public at osdrawer.net. Changes were made to get a clean compilation of PhotoGrabber but no activities have been made for several months.

With Haiku being more mature now and a very descent USB stack, Jixt found it the right time to rewrite some stuff so it compiles out of the box on Haiku (though still needing the makefile-engine of R5), and hence ... R2.1 has been released for Haiku.

Grab your digital camera's and start checking if you can get your images imported in Haiku with the ease we know and came to love in the OS.

 Version 2.2:

- Download & Delete buttons/menu items have been removed.
- New picture grid view
- New status Dock
- Configuration of type 1 & 2 has been removed. PhotoGrabber now recognizes those types automatically
- Many more little fixes …

The app seems to be showing what looks like photo tags (maybe EXIF?).

Is it capable of mapping those tags to BFS attributes?

If not, wouldn't this be a nice addition, so that Tracker can show the information to the user (and perhaps even perform queries)?

PhotoGrabber shows some attributes of the pictures but they are not EXIF metadata. This is not yet supported in this version. In the future the EXIF metadata of the pictures will be mapped to BFS attributes.

Hi Jixt,

Support for EXIF-attributes mapping would be really cool. Looking forward to future versions! smilies/smiley.gif

Hi Meanwhile.

As karl already mentioned I need to have the backtrace. Otherwise I can't see what the problem is. Can you also give me the type of camera you use?

Thx
Jixt

Uhm, Backtrace...forgot how to get that...wasn't it a matter of typing 'bt' somewhere?
Anyhow, I *do* know how to get a serial debug output from it, if that's OK as well.
The camera is a relatively old Sony: model Cybershot DSC-P52 (3.2 megapixels)
Thanx,

I tested my Canon A530 out with this app in Senryu (under real hardware r28327), worked great!

Under preferences, change the 'plugin' to 'PTP', and under 'Plugin Configuration', change the 'end type' to '2' before plugging your camera in!

Hi Jixt, what type of camera(s) do you do your testing on? I've added mine to the hardware database:

http://www.haikuware.com/hardw...al-cameras

would be nice to add more cameras. Great app btw.
